using the website
hello everyone
just a quick request to find out if all the managers or coaches could volunteer someone from your team to write out any match reports or important information that you may feel needs to be on the website.it is very easy to do and doesnt take much time and i know that alot of people are interested in finding out how the other sarisbury sides are getting on,i do feel that if we dont start using the site then we will eventually lose it which would be a great shame as it is one of the best sites i have ever used.
Tournament Success – 28/06/2008
The team were in action today, finishing as runners up in the Hedge End Rangers 6-aside tournament.
The tournament was ran as two groups of 6 teams with winners & runners up contesting the semi finals. Sarisbury were in group 2. We started out with two wins, 2-0 against St Francis Youth and 1-0 against Fawley Falcons. Followed by a scare due to a 1-0 defeat to Botley Village, the eventual group winners. A third win (1-0) against Hedge End Lions set up a very tough, winner takes all, match against Hedge End Cougars. Strong defending by both teams left the match as a 0-0 draw, allowing Sarisbury through as group runners up.
The semi final against Bitterne Youth was another close match. Sparks took the lead but with just a couple of minutes to go, Bitterne equalised. A penalty shoot out was to follow. Bitterne took the first penalty, hit the bar and went over. Jake (Sarisbury captain) scores in the left corner (0-1 to Sarisbury). Bitterne take their second and equalise. Jack tucks away his spot kick to restore Sparks lead (1-2). Bitterne take their final penalty, saved by Ash, Sparks go through (1-2) on penalties to face Botley Green again, but this time in the final.
The final is 5 minutes each way. Some good defending by both teams mean that at half time it is 0-0. Shortly after the start of the second half Botley break through and score. Sparks begin to press for an equaliser, but with a minute to go Botley catch us on the break again (2-0).
A very enjoyable morning’s football and the best result yet was achieved by the boys.
