Sarisbury Sparks V Manor Colts Vultures

Todays game was a hampshire cup match and manor colts were a north hants youth league premier division side so it was going to be a tough one,we started brightly and soon took the lead when jack weaver darted between defender and keeper to steer into the bottom corner, this seemed to wake manor up and they started to play some neat football down both flanks and an equaliser soon came through their right winger with a neat finish,it got worse for us when they soon took a 2-1 lead, george taylor made a superb save to tip it onto the post but their forward was left with an easy tap in,nick yeomans hit the bar with a fantastic effort as we searched for a way back into the game,a couple of half chances came our way but these were not taken  so at half time it was 1-2,the second half began badly for us as their playmaker was allowed to run the length of the field with the ball before setting up the striker for an easy finish, both teams still tried to play football in search of more goals and harry osman then reduced the arrears with a cool close range finish,we went after the equaliser as manor dropped further back and we should have had a couple more but we just did not finish the chances we had, then right on full time jacob scoates picked up a failed clearance and smashed it home from 20 yards to take us into extra time, this was just a little bit too much for us as we let manor dictate play and they soon regained the lead when a good through ball was picked a up and fired home from a tight angle, almost immediately they scored another when some excellent forward play brought their player one on one with george taylor and he fired home from the edge of the box, still chances came our way but we just could not finish, this has been our downfall in this game,we have to be more ruthless in front of goal, especially against teams from a higher level such as manor colts .final score 3-5 aet.

many thanks go to the referee and to rich and phil for running the line, also a big thankyou to all the parents who helped out with all the food and drinks for both teams,it was really was lovely, but the biggest thankyou must go to all the boys who ran their socks off for 80 odd minutes and played their part in an excellent game of football, good luck to manor in the next round.

Bashley youth V Sarisbury sparks 08/11/09

todays game was played on a massive pitch which we hoped would help our wide players but from the first whistle the game was a midfield battle wth very little composure on the ball from both  sides,we did have a couple of half chances but these were not taken, the bashley right winger was causing a few problems but all in all we dealt quite well with any threat they posed, going forward it just was not clicking but the game wore on until half time with very little goalmouth action half time 0-0.we seemed to start the second half much more positively and put bashley under pressure,we managed to force several corners but no one was on hand to finish,as the game wore on we felt like we would never score but from another corner bashley only half cleared out to george robinson who curled it over the keeper from 25 yards,we continued to pressurise the bashley defence but they managed to get an equaliser on the counter attack when harry ball neatly lobbed george taylor in the sarisbury goal, this stung us a little and we soon regained the lead when a 30 yard free kick from george robinson flew straight in,chas steele and lewis keeling  were dominating the midfield battle and this allowed us to increase our lead when a sharp turn from harry osman beat his marker and he fired into the bottom from 15 yards,we managed to hold out for the rest of the game without any further incident and the match finished 1-3.well done to all the boys for their efforts, many thanks to all the supporters who turned up to watch and to the young ref who i thought was excellent  as was the linesman(me).see you all next saturday

sarisbury sparks V Hedge end rangers 01/11/09

after a weeks break we played hedge end in the league and the way we started we were still on holiday, there was no energy or cutting edge to anything the boys done and it was no surprise when hedge end took the lead with a fine header after an excellent run and cross,we hoped for some sign of a wake up from the boys and there was none but we managed to get to half time without conceding an more, some strong words were needed to get the boys going and they came out much more up for it in the second half, this soon told when a corner was neatly headed in by jacob scoates to equalise, our midfield was winning tackles and preventing the hedge end playmaker from running the game and we began to play some good stuff,a superb free kick from george robinson was met at the far post by jack weaver to make it 2-1,som,e smart goalkeeping from george taylor prevented any equaliser from hedge end before a brilliant pass inside the full back allowed aiden sherlock to fire home to make it 3-1,the game then slowed down with both sides trying to create chances but never finishing them.final score 3 – 1

many thanks to john sherlock for running the line and to the referee, also to all the supporters who came along to watch,a big thankyou must go to mike and dickie for all the effort they put into getting the pitch ready, eventually it was worth it

Winchester Youth V Sarisbury Sparks 18/10/09

Our toughest game of the season saw us take on winchester in a top of the table clash and we could not have got a better start when some neat inter play set up aiden sherlock to cross in,the keeper fumbled the cross and harry osman was left with a simple tap in.the game was quite a close affair with both defences on top but we managed to increase our lead when aiden sherlock burst down the right after a good jack bannister pass and he fired into the top corner from twenty yards.we both had goals disallowed before half time and a couple of half chances  came our way which were not taken.half time 0-2.we started well in the 2nd half and played some good stuff before a superb through ball from bradley morris set up nick yeomans to make it 0-3,this seemed to deflate winchester and we began to dominate play in the middle of the park, winchester were still dangerous on the counter attack and our defence were excellent in dealing with that, the game worn on to a very satisfactory result with sarisbury keeping their first clean sheet of the season.it was an excellent performance from the boys so well done,a big thankyou must go to chris osman for running the line and to all the supporters for turning up to watch,i hope you all have a nice half term break

The Squad 2009/2010

u12,s squad

Hartley Wintney Hawks V Sarisbury Sparks 11/10/09

We travelled to north hampshire for our first round tie and the weather was awful, the game was a very evenly matched one with neither side creating any real first half chances, although everyone except the ref thought the hawks should have had a first half penalty but the half ended 0-0.the second half began badly for us when we went a goal down after only partially clearing a corner and it was fired home from 20 yards1-0,almost immediately we equalised when nick went on a good run and he finished well into the bottom corner 1-1,moments later we took the lead when jack bannister chested the ball home from close range 1-2,we extended our lead when a powerful cross shot was diverted into his own net by a hawks defender 1-3,and we finished off the scoring when jack bannister got his second with a classy left foot finish from 20 yards. final score 1-4 .well done to all the boys for their efforts and to all the supporters for turning up to watch.many thanks go to ian yeomans for running the line.
